Following my time at UofA, I was able to travel to over 30 countries before eventually working with the IFRC then several UN agencies in several humanitarian operations. I felt confident and capable while working in some of the most demanding contexts (Ebola outbreak in West Africa, Syria emergency and Iraq emergency) while also able to learn and apply new concepts (climate change adaptation or mitigation) when needed.

Throughout all these experiences, the ability to focus on individuals and the people behind the numbers has been a critical skill. The ability to connect to cultures, languages and far away communities, whether professionally or personally, has been highly rewarding.
